Stila Beach Palette Number 2: Haute in the Hamptons

Top row from left: Sand, Linen. Second Row: Route 27, Blue Skies. Third Row: Hydrangea. Bottom Row: Montauk Highway

Top row from left: Sand, Linen. Second Row: Route 27, Blue Skies. Third Row: Hydrangea. Bottom Row: Montauk Highway
This is the second palette of five in Stila's beach palette collection. This one, like the first, is very wearable. It has mostly neutral colors, and the one darker blue color.

So the palette starts off with Sand, a matte light beige color. The next color is Linen, a sparkly gold color. Then we have Route 27, a brown with pink and green micro glitter. The final eye color is Blue Skies, a dark blue with blue micro glitter.

Now on to the blushes. The first is Hydrangea, a really light, matte pink. Finally, Montauk Highway is a darker red color. From the first look it looks like it is a bronzer color but don't use it as a bronzer! It is too red to be a bronzer and will make you look sunburned! I use the lighter blush on my cheekbone and the darker one under it in a very small amount.

Stila Beach Palette Number 1: Stunning in Sayulita

First row from left: Starfish, Sandbar. Second row: Getaway, Palm Trees. Third row: Playa. Forth Row: Banderas Bay

First row from left: Starfish, Sandbar. Second row: Getaway, Palm Trees. Third row: Playa. Forth Row: Banderas Bay
I've reviewed this before, but I thought I would do it again as it is part of my Stila travel palette series.

This is the first of five travel beach palettes that Stila released Summer of 2011. I fell in love with this one at Urban Outfitters and had to get the rest... and then some. This one is one of my favorites. You can get a really pretty natural look but it also has a nice flair with the green color, Palm Trees.

Starfish is a light shimmery champagne rose, Sandbar is a deep brown with lots of lighter brown glitter, Getaway is a light violet color with multi colored glitter, and Palm Trees is a pretty green with gold glitter. Playa is a peachy pink matte color, and Banderas Bay is a light pink glittery highlight color (it barely shows up but it is there, under Playa).

This is probably one of the most wearable palettes in the beach collection! Check it out if you can find it! It's worth every penny!

My 100th Post! Stila Lip Glaze Review and Giveaway

Hello everyone! This is my 100th post! Hip hip hooray!

In honor of my 100th post, I'm doing my first official giveaway. But first I am going to talk about the products.

So above are my Stila lip glazes in Raisin, Grapefruit, and Seashell. I bought them in a kit at Urban Outfitters for $12 dollars. These are not full size, but they are pretty close. I didn't like them initially, but it was more because I didn't use enough product. I wouldn't twist it enough. Now that I know to twist it more, I have had a much easier time with it.

So these colors are very pigmented and they also smell great. Each one has its own individual scent which I think is really cool. The glosses are also not sticky which is another big bonus. Raisin is a pretty berry color, Seashell is a cool-toned nude color, and Grapefruit is a bright pink.

I will definitely be buying these again! No on to the giveaway portion!

The giveaway will be a Stila Lip Glaze in Raisin (the one pictured above). It has not been used. It is not full size, it is the same size as the ones I have.

So how do you enter? Well first of all you have to subscribe to either my blog, twitter, facebook, or youtube channel. Second of all, you need to leave a comment below telling me your favorite lipgloss and lipgloss color! Then, e-mail me telling me your username(s) in which you followed me. I will enter your name in for each time you follow me, so you can have your name entered up to four times! Only US and Canada residents may enter. The winner will be announced a week from today!

Stila Travel Palette Series

So as you can probably see from the title, this is going to be my first post from my Stila Travel Palette series. As you can see from the pictures, I have 10 of these. Not only are they great, they are also awesome collectibles. I collect them and my friend Becca collects them as well.

The first set of five are from the Beach Collection. The next three were released solely with Urban Outfitters, and the last two were released independently and I purchased them on Haute Look.

So stay tuned for the next 10 posts on these palettes! Also I will be hitting my 100th post soon so stick around for my giveaway!

Tokidoki Lipgloss in Sandy

SCARY! That is exactly what I thought about this gloss when I first saw it online. I've been wanting to try Tokidoki for a long time, but I never really knew what to buy from them. Everything changed when Sephora sent me an email telling me about their fabulous new 500 point reward (a fabulous Tarte set) and that, by the way, I was only four points away from it. So did I meticulously look through my shopping list for something I had wanted forever? Did I look through my make-up collection to see if I had anything that was getting low that needed to be replaced? Nope! I went to the sale section and clicked on the cheapest things I could find that interested me. I will even admit that I clicked on a couple other products first but they weren't available. Finally I found this green lip gloss.

I had definitely seen this before, and every time I came across it my thought process was "ew gross, who would want green lipgloss?" I really couldn't let the Tarte 500 point perk slip through my fingers, so I said "what the hell" and bought it. And I'm glad I did.

As you can see from the swatch, it only has the slightest hint of green when applied. It has this cute snow-globe packaging which I like to shake (mature, right?). It smells like blueberries which I love, and the best part is that it isn't sticky. It also has an applicator that I've never seen before. It's like a floppy spatula. Weird, but effective.

I like this product and I am eager to try more Tokidoki items in the future. If you have any suggestions for stuff I should try, or if you just want to say hi please leave a comment!

Also I'm nearing my 100th post! I will be hosting a giveaway when that time comes, rules to follow. Get ready people!

YouTube!

My first YouTube video!
This is just an introductory video. Does anyone know how to change the picture that it shows? That is probably one of the most unflattering stills I have ever seen!
Anyways, please watch and send me requests! I love to hear from you!

Revlon ColorBurst Lipstick in Rosy Nude

I originally purchased this lipstick out of frustration. I was looking all over for the Revlon Lip Butters but I couldn't find them anywhere (I talk about this in my review of them). I went to Rite Aid and thought that I might as well try the lipstick if I couldn't get the lip butter. In the end I obviously ended up finding the lip butters (and they are now stocked in drugstores all over) but I don't regret buying this lipstick.

First of all the packaging is awesome. Like the lip butters, it has the diamond pattern in two of the sides. It also has the color of the product on the top so if you have a bunch of them, you can easily tell which one is which! Don't you wish all lipsticks were like that? Another thing I love about this is the "Revlon" that is embossed on the actual product. I know it really doesn't matter, but I think it is really classy when lipsticks do this.

Now on to the product itself. As the name indicates, this lipstick is a rosy nude. If it was a shade lighter it would be my lips but better, but instead it is a little darker. I really love the color of it because I have so many colors that are my lips but better, but this one does look different and very pretty on.

I think that this color would be nice for day or night. For day this is best worn with a simple eye look but it also transitions very nicely into a night time color without looking too dramatic.

I really enjoy this lipstick. I'll have to pick up some more!

Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush in Peach Satin

This is another one of those drugstore products that has come out in the past four months and become super hyped. Everyone has been purchasing these lately.

So here's the deal with this blush. It's a creamy consistency that squishes. I won't say that it bounces because when you push it in, it doesn't bounce back into shape. It leaves a beautiful color and a smooth, creamy, matte finish. I have applied this with my fingers, a brush, and my beauty blender. Of all these methods, I suggest the beauty blender (or any other sponge) the most. Fingers just aren't as good and my brush left hairs on the surface.

Unlike the color tattoo eyeshadows, I do like this product. I don't think it deserves all the hype that it has been getting, but I do think that it is a pretty good blush and I want to get more colors. I have been using it quite frequently recently as cream blushes are better on dry skin.

Tell me what you think! Please leave questions and comments and subscribe!

Physician's Formula Shimmer Strips

Left: Natural Glow Right: Rosy Glow

Natural Glow

Rosy Glow
I found both of these in my local Price Chopper for $6 a piece... Can't beat that! I've been looking at Physician's Formula a lot lately for Highlights because they have such beautiful shimmery shades! These have been compared to a couple higher end brands (Dior I think).

First of all, There is a great range of color in these palettes. I'm obsessed with highlight colors so this is great for me. If you use your brush in different areas of the palette you will get different overall colors on your cheeks!

Natural Glow probably should be called peachy glow. It's very peachy but I love it. You have to be careful with the darker colors if you have lighter skin because they are very pigmented! I've used the top most highlight color on my eyes, temple, nose, and cupid's bow. Rosy Glow isn't as pigmented as Natural Glow but it is very pretty. The colors are more of a blue-toned pink color.

Check these products out! They are perfect all in one face color!

Buxom Mix and Mingle Set

From left: Sydney, Sasha, Monaco, April, Tokyo, Starr, Miami, and Naomi.

From left: Sydney, Monaco, Tokyo, Miami, Sasha, April, Starr, and Naomi.

So I'm trying the Blogsy app for my iPad. Blogger plus didn't work for me because I store all of my pictures on Google Picasa and Blogger Plus didn't support that. The reason I keep trying to post from my iPad is really just one of convenience. I use my iPad much more than my computer, plus if I start doing videos this app supports YouTube integration as well. So far this is good except I can't caption my pictures.

Anyways, on to the review! I mentioned this set awhile ago in my post about what I received for Christmas. Unfortunately I was being lazy then and haven't gotten around to reviewing it until now. I promise I won't keep doing this in the future. I realize now how annoying it is when someone posts about something that is no longer available to sell. I thought I would review it anyway, though, because I know some of these are available in full size on their own. Right now I am working on a back log of products I have to review. In the future I will be reviewing products within a week of purchase.

Anyways... Buxom (a Bare Escentuals brand) makes AMAZING products! (Check out their mascara wand, it's insane!) My favorite though are the Big and Healthy Lip Polishes. They smell amazing like caramel or something, they aren't sticky, they plump your lips, and they have great colors! If you don't like lip plumper than these might not be for you but give them a try and see!

My first experience with the lip gloss was from a $10 mini Bare Escentuals kit last year. It was a tiny version of Dolly and I wore it a ton. (I still have some left though) Then I went out and bought a full size in Bunny, a very light pink. I was shocked at how large the tube was. My only other high end lipgloss purchase before that had been MAC and their tubes are pretty small (especially for the price). I then bought one in Roxanne which is a full color one and it comes with a brush instead of a doe foot which all of the others come in. I only really purchased Roxanne because, well, that's my name and you never see it anywhere (except that god awful song). Then, for my birthday my best friend Becca gave me a set of one of the lip glosses and the Buxom Big and Healthy Lip Stick (the pencils in this kit are that), and I fell in love with that! So I was thrilled when she gave me this kit for Christmas which has four of each in it!

The products in these kits are not full size. There is a ton of product in them though. Buxom could probably get away with selling them at full price instead of the huge ones. One medium sized lips gloss like the ones in this kit (I say medium because the Dolly I have is ultra tiny) is probably the same size if not larger than a MAC lip glaze. They are also a great value. I'm not sure how much this one cost but I have seen ones with just one lipstick and lip gloss for around $14 which is the exact cost of a MAC lip glaze.

When I saw the products in this kit I loved them instantly. There is a good and wearable range of lipsticks, and the glosses are so beautiful! They are much more sparkly than the other ones that I own, each gloss has multicolored micro glitter in it which makes it that much more beautiful!

First of all the lipsticks. Sydney is a very pale slightly pink nude. Of all the colors I was most afraid to try out this color but it is actually very pretty looking. It's the perfect neutral color. Next up is Monaco. Monaco is a pretty rose color and is very flattering. Tokyo is the darkest color in the kit. It is a red-berry color that would be best worn at night time. The last lipstick, Miami, is bright pink. This is actually probably the least wearable color in the kit, and yet it is still very easy to pull off.

Now on to the Lip Glosses. First up we have Sasha, a gorgeous sheer nude with gold micro glitter. Each gloss goes with one of the lipsticks (I paired them together in my first picture) and this one goes well with Sydney. April is a light pink with silver and pink micro glitter. This one doesn't exactly match the color that I paired it with, Monaco, but they do look nice together, it's very sheer as well. Starr is a sheer plum color with gold and blue micro glitter. The glitter in this gloss is the prettiest to look at of all the glosses. Finally Naomi is the most opaque of all the glosses. It is a super bright pink with pink and orange micro glitter.

Check out Buxom's products and let me know what you think! Please leave questions and comments and don't forget to subscribe!

Maybelline Color Tattoo Eyeshadows

Top Left to Right: Too Cool, Tenacious Teal, Tough as Taupe. Bottom Left to Right: Bad to the Bronze, Audacious Asphalt.

Left to Right: Too Cool, Bad to the Bronze, Tenacious Teal, Audacious Asphalt, and Tough as Taupe
Everyone say hello to the first huge overly hyped product of 2012. People are calling these an exact dupe for MAC paint pots. Everyone is raving about these on youtube and in blogs. Well I'm about to give an unpopular opinion.

First of all, the colors that I purchased (minus the blue) are the only neutral colors that they have put out. Every other color is very bright and vivid. If these are going to be the dupes for MAC paint pots they are going to have to put out more neutrals. None of these colors make a good neutral base for eyeshadows in my opinion. I love champagne colors like Stila Kitten and MAC Bare Study for bases.

Although the range of color isn't anything to talk about, they do swatch beautifully. Here is my theory. Everyone who has raved about these has primarily swatched them. Because they aren't the most wearable colors, people have probably reviewed them based on the swatches. If I was reviewing them based on the swatches on my hands I would say how much I loved them. How long they stay. How they don't wash off when I wash my hands. How they stayed better than Stila and MAC's equivalent products... Yadda Yadda Yadda.

Here's the deal. Yes they do swatch beautifully. I love looking at them swatched on my hands. But on my eyes it's another story. I do not have oily lids. I never have creasing problems. My eyeshadow usually never budges. But no matter what I do, I can use primer or use it by itself, this product creases on me. I don't know if I'm special in this, but it is the most frustrating thing. All of the color will migrate into my crease. I always end up with a line of color tattoo in my crease. It's not attractive.

I really tried guys. I wore these every day for a week and I tried different primers under it. I am very disappointed with it. I wanted to like this more than anyone can possibly know. Some of them stayed better, but the color faded really quickly and it was just no good. I'd be interested to see if anyone else comes out and says they hate this.

Let me know if they work for you. If there is some secret trick for getting these to stay in place let me know as well. Please leave questions and comments and subscribe!

Mattese Elite Stardust Powders

Top: Purple Haze, Left: Kaleidoscope, Right: Glitzy

Purple Haze
Kaleidoscope

Glitzy
These powders were my first purchase from the member-only site Haute Look. If you want to check it out, follow this invite link: http://www.hautelook.com/short/3CkaV and sign up!They have really great beauty deals (and other great stuff) every day! They also have and iPad app which I find to be really handy. I have since purchased two other things from them that I will talk about later. You really get a good deal on this stuff. I got each of these for $5! Check it out!

Anyways, I was a little surprised when I got these. First of all, I live on the east coast and Haute Look is on the west coast so shipping took forever. I don't mind though because you never know when your package is going to come (awesome surprise) and the prices are so good. The second surprise was the color. (For the record, I do not blame Haute Look in any way for this. This was all the fault of Mattese Elite. I checked their website and the pictures were inaccurate there as well). The pictures of the products were nothing like the colors I received. Purple Haze was darker than it looked on the site, Glitzy is bronze when on the site it looked like a champagne, and Kaleidoscope appeared to be a light brown when in truth it's a rust with green duo-chrome. I do like the colors that I received, but I feel like I would enjoy them that much more if I had received the colors I thought I was going to receive.

Anyways, on to the review. These products are similar to MAC pigments (not quite the same quality wise but very similar). The difference in packaging is that these have a plastic sifter on them. This does not mean that the powder will be prevented from spilling everywhere if you let them free in a travel bag. These powders are best stored in an upright position to ensure cleanliness (I wish someone had forewarned me!). You also really need to use a primer with these or wear them wet. When swatched, it is easy to just rub the colors off.

Purple Haze is a very pretty deep purple with blue, purple, and silver micro glitter. This shade would look nice dusted very lightly over the lid, used more concentrated in the crease or the outer lid, or used wet as a liner.

Kaleidoscope is probably the most difficult to pull off but the most fascinating to look at. As I said earlier, it is a rust color with a green duo-chrome. It has green and blue micro glitter. As a lid color it would probably be best for a night time look or on dark skin tones. For the day time it makes a nice outer lid or crease color.

Glitzy is a very vivid bronze with gold micro glitter. It is probably the most wearable of the bunch, but you need to be careful when applying it or everything will end up way too bronzed. This is definitely a lid color though.

I'm not blown away by these products but I like them. I'm not sure I would buy any more of these unless they were $5 again. I definitely won't trust the color options though.

Hunger Games Nails!

I just received three of the twelve Capitol Colours from China Glaze nail polishes in the mail yesterday and I couldn't resist trying out two of them! I have Riveting on my nails and Electrify as the ring finger. I love them! Riveting is the most gorgeous orange and Electrify looks like gems! Check these and the other colors out!

L'Oreal Infallible Eye Shadow

Perpetual Purple and Iced Latte

Perpetual Purple and Iced Latte

Perpetual Purple and Iced Latte

Perpetual Purple and Iced Latte
What a spring season it has been for drug store companies! First Revlon hit it big with their Lip Butters, then Maybelline had their Dream Bouncy Blush and Color Tattoo Eyeshadows, and L'Oreal has their infallible eyeshadows! They are giving high end brands a run for their money!

First of all, the texture on these is amazing. In the pot it is almost damp. It swatches and applies in a beautiful long lasting powder. My swatches don't really do the product justice! The two that I purchased have a glorious high shine and gorgeous micro glitter. I only purchased two because I wanted to try them out before I got a whole bunch. I decided to go with a crazy color and a neutral color.

So first of all Perpetual Purple is a very pretty deep purple color. I am very attracted to purples of all shades so I had to have this when I saw it. It is probably best used as a liner if you want to use it for everyday but it also makes a gorgeous outer eye-lid/crease color for a more dramatic look. The micro glitter is blue, pink, and purple which gives it a lovely shimmery effect.

Iced Latte was the color that initially drew my attention. It is probably the one that most beauty gurus will be drawn to. Why? Because it is the perfect highlight color. It is a gorgeous champagne with silver and gold micro glitter. When not in direct light it matches my skin exactly, but when the light does shine on it, it is the most attractive color! I have been using this like mad, not just for my eyes but sometimes for my cheeks as well. As a lot of people know, I'm obsessed with highlight colors right now so this is perfect for me. I would definitely repurchase this color again and again.

I have one caution for anyone buying this product. When I opened the packages there were two gray things on the colors. I took them out and threw one of them away without really looking at it. I should have because it says clearly: "Do not discard." Some people think that it is because the product will dry out. That's not the case. I know for a fact that if you DON'T keep the gray plastic thing in it and try to travel with these shadows, the color will come apart from the bottom of the pan and get all over the cap. KEEP YOUR GRAY PROTECTOR THINGS! You'll be sorry if you don't!

Maybelline Great Lash Mascara in Green Envy

I have to be honest, I bought this by accident. I've heard so many great things about Great Lash mascara that I wanted to try it. I saw this one and the package said special edition. Clearly I didn't read it as well as I should have because I ended up with green mascara - not that I'm complaining.

I've been infatuated with colored mascaras ever since I was a little girl and I saw my aunt wearing blue mascara. I thought it was the coolest thing that I had ever seen. It ended up being great that I bought this by accident because it IS the coolest thing. It gives your eyes a beautiful green fringe and it's lengthening to boot!

I'm going to have to try the original great lash in the future but for now this is really fun!

Urban Decay Cream Shadow in Midnight Rodeo

Of all the three Urban Decay cream shadows that I own, this is the best. It is very subtle and pretty. I tend to wear the same types of colors over and over again, and this is one of them. It is the perfect every day color.

Midnight Rodeo is a shimmery champagne color with lots of sparkle. The great thing about these cream shadows is that there is no glitter fallout. This can be used like a MAC paint pot to put powder shadows over or it can just be used on its own.

Smashbox O-Gloss

Once again we have another O-Gloss review!

This is the original O-Gloss. It starts off as clear and then changes to a perfect shade of pink for your lips. I've said it before and I'll say it again, this is the best gloss. It is moisturizing, it isn't sticky at all, it has beautiful color, and it has such a cool gimmick!

This color is perfect for the day time. The pink is nice and subtle and leaves a stain on your lips after the gloss wears off. I would definitely repurchase this!

Smashbox O-Glow Cheek Color

This is a pretty great cheek color. The swatch picture doesn't really do it that much justice. When you first apply it, it starts out clear, then hot pink, then it mutes into a gorgeous pink flush. It only takes a little, if you use too much of it, your cheeks will end up being hot pink.

This product is great for winter. When skin is drier, it tends to flake. When my skin is drier I have to forgo powder foundation on my cheeks because it shows any patches of dry skin I might have. Blush does the same. It's best to use a liquid blush to prevent this from happening.

I really like this product. I would purchase it again. As I've said before, I'm a huge fan of the O-Glow series by Smashbox.
